Long-time audio drama writer, producer, and voice actor, Glenn Hascall has just released an original Western audio drama for Christmas. This half-hour audio drama was written, directed, and produced by Hascall and is available to stream and download for free. The program is titled "The Timely Arrival of Ormond Wright" and is based on real historical events that surrounded the arrival of a new preacher to the wild town of Dodge City, Kansas in the late 1870s.
Featured in the cast are Joe Stofko as the elder Ormond and Tanja Milojevic as his granddaughter, Emily. The younger Ormond was portrayed by John Dehnart and Katie Dehnart played Ormond's wife, Minnie. ATC's own J.D. Sutter was the voice of the announcer for the show.
Also featured are:
Scott Fortney as Wyatt
Peter Lutz as Bartholomew
Natalie Stanfield as Dora
Tom Chalker as AJ
Randy Streu as John
Here's what Glenn Hascall had to say about the inspiration for this 30-minute drama:
The seeds were planted several years ago when I visited Boot Hill Museum for the first time and came across names and artifacts of early life in Dodge City, Kansas. This year one bit of history connected with multiple museum visits and lead to the formation of "The Timely Arrival of Ormond Wright." Ormond was a pastor who came from the east to serve one of the wickedest cities in the west. He wasn't ordained, he was young, and nobody expected him to stay. Somehow this became the starting line for this Christmas journey. In the end, I wondered if Dodge City was any different than Bethlehem for the delivery of Good News. I used an elder Ormond Wright to help advance the story in memories he shares with his adult granddaughter in the 1930s. The primary story is set in the 1870s. The story is ultimately far more affirming than is usually associated with "The Queen of the Cow Towns".
