Launched in spring 2021, This Duckburg Life is a fun audio drama miniseries featuring familiar characters from the DuckTales television show. The 7-episode show is framed as a podcast hosted by Huey Duck for Duckburg Public Radio in which Huey features news items and interviews from around Duckburg. The show is a spoof on popular public radio show, This American Life.
In the episodes you'll hear from Launchpad, Gyro Gearloose, Webby Vanderquack, Donald Duck, and his nephews as they recount stories about Gyro's inventions, run-ins with The Beagle Boys, and the opening of Scrooge's water park. There are many laugh-out-loud lines in the show dialogue directly as well as the in-universe advertisements for businesses and products in the DuckTales universe. There are also humorous ads for fictional products that parody popular podcast advertisers such as MailMonkey.
The production values are top-notch though some scenes are a bit sparse on sound design. The acting is fantastic, as you might expect from a Disney project. The cast features the original TV show actors reprising their roles for this project and includes familiar names such as Kari Wahlgren (Lamplighter Theatre, Adventures in Odyssey) as Roxanne Featherly and Keith Ferguson (Ted Humphries on Adventures in Odyssey) as Flintheart Glomgold and various other characters.
Episodes in the series:
- "Adventure Calls"
- "Narratron 3000"
- "Louie Sells Out"
- "Ghost Library"
- "The Framing of Flintheart Glomgold"
- "Out to Lunch"
- "Beagle Day"
This Duckburg Life is a fun, lighthearted show that kids will enjoy but there are lots of jokes that adults can appreciate as well. The episodes range from 12 to 20 minutes in length. The show was released for free and can be found by searching "This Duckburg Life" in your podcast app or grab the RSS feed at this website, or on this YouTube playlist.
