Looking Forward to Audio Dramas in 2024

Happy new year, ATC fans! 2023 was a banner year for audio drama. Some really amazing productions were released and new series made their debut. 2024 doesn't look like things will be slowing down any so let's take a look at some of the releases fans can look forward to hearing in this new year.

Wise King Media is bringing back an old show of theirs this year. Some may remember the audio-drama-released-as-a-podcast Mack Meets History. The series released 2 episodes in 2020 but no follow-up episodes followed. That will change as new episodes will be recorded in January 2024. Episodes will likely be released sometime later in the year.

Micah Touchet's New Birth Audio Productions is going to be pretty busy this year with 2 brand-new shows releasing. 

The first one is Reckoning of Cowards, the first installment in the Bayou Noir series, The script for this was written by Darby Kern and Micah Touchet. This production is slated to release early 2024.

The second one is The Claim, a standalone feature-length Western written by Tracy Van Dolder from Witnesses. This one is expected to drop in late 2024.

After 5 years, people are finally going to get to hear more of Tannhauser Gate Entertainment's Jake Muller Adventures. The second installment of the series entitled Blood will be released in mid 2024. 

The third one, Undead, will come out in the later part of the year.

Paws and Tales was supposed to release 4 new episodes in 2023. However, those have now been pushed back to 2024. No word yet on when exactly this year fans will be able to hear them.

Adventures in Odyssey began their 11th AIO Club season this month with "The Ark's the Thing". Album 76: Keep it Together and Album 77 (title TBD) will be released to the public this year as well. Somewhere in there, the 1,000th episode of the long-running audio drama series will be released. In celebration of this, Focus on the Family are hosting One Grand Party, a special event that will include a live audio drama recording with several of the AIO cast members.

Christopher Green's Shadows & Daylight started it's second season last year. A TBD amount of episodes from the rest of the season will release in 2024.

Not only that, Shadows & Daylight will be feature in a crossover in Dominion Artists' Nick Guy, Private Eye series. Characters like Winter O'Brien will team up with the title character and Doctor DeSoto to solve a case together. The script is being written by Frank Ulle, the creator of Nick Guy, with assistance from Christopher Green.

The Vengeance is Mine Affair

And the spinoff series The Human Eel will also get at least one new story with Greystone, King of the Poodles.

Glenn Hascall had a busy 2023 with making and releasing audio dramas and this year will be no exception. Hascall's First Acts Productions will release several new audio dramas in 2024.

More Bible Dragnet episodes will be coming out, a holiday special for On Demand, a follow up series to Dudley Junction called Josiah Donovan: Scientific Historian, and a standalone Christmas story.

• March - Dragnet: Double-Crossed Dreamer and the Drawn Out Drought 
• April: Josiah Donovan: Scientific Historian 1
• May: Josiah Donovan: Scientific Historian 2
• June: Josiah Donovan: Scientific Historian 3
• September: Dragnet: Deception, Daring & the Difference
• October: Dragnet: Dream Destroyer Dethroned

• November: On Demand: Christmas

• November/December: Christmas at the Canteen

LRT Media is going to have a banner year with several new productions and the launch of a new series.

Heritage: Stories of American Heroes will premiere in 2024 with 2 episodes: "Captain Molly" and "Pony Bob".

The third Sherlock Holmes audio drama from LRT, their first original Holmes story, will come out this year. It's entitled The Lost Legacy of Tilly Whim.

"The Great Church Robbery" from Chapel and Squeak will have a resolution with the final two parts of that 3 parter coming out this year.

Two more micro audio dramas in the Nuggets series will be released as well.

The first season of Robin Hood: Rising to Honor, a collaboration with Eternal Future Productions, started last year. The rest of season 1 will be available to hear this year, along with season 2. 

Speaking of Eternal Future Productions, they have several other releases coming up. Their new Star Trek parody show Venture will debut early 2024 with more episodes being released through the following months.

Season 3 of Pirateers will wrap up with the final 2 episodes of the season. 

April 2024 will see the release of the period romance Resurgence, a standalone production written by Glenn Hascall.

A new audio drama production company will be releasing several new productions this year. Oklahoma-based Christian nonprofit HeartMatters will be launching a free app this month with stories for kids, teenagers, and young adults that tackle a variety of issues those age groups are facing. 6 productions will drop in the app this month with more being released throughout the rest of 2024.

That's a lot of new audio dramas coming soon and these are just some of the ones we're aware of now! Who knows what other productions we'll get to enjoy hearing in the new year?
